How to add new Fonts to GoodNotes

Today I will show you how you can add new fonts to GoodNotes and your iPad in general.

When I use my beloved app GoodNotes, I usually do it with the Apple Pencil. I prefer to write “real text” in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. But it’s nice to know that the function at least exists and that it’s also possible to type your notes instead of writing them by hand.

But what if you want to keep a bit of the handwritten flair? Today I’ll show you how to import any font you like so that it becomes available in GoodNotes. And that’s not all. I’ll provide you with my own handwriting: As a font!

Of course, it differs a little bit, because, in reality, I write every letter a little bit differently. But at least you get the handwritten flair, even if you type your text! So here it comes.

First, download the free iFont app from the AppStore. Alternatively, you can use another font app, but I’ve had good experiences with iFont.

Open the app and click on “Import” in the upper left corner. Now select the font you want from your files. First, you have to save them in .otf or .ttf format. If you are reading this article on your iPad, you can download my font directly and save it in your files. Then just select it.

The new font will appear at iFont on the left, then click “Install”. Confirm possible popups and then go to your iPad settings (iFont has a little guide for this otherwise). There you have to confirm the loaded profile by clicking on “Install” in the upper right corner.

Then go back to iFont, you will see that your font is now installed. Now when you open GoodNotes – or any other writing application – on your iPad, you can select the font like any other.
